It's not as difficult as it seems!

It's January. The Christmas indulgence is over for many, and the promise of a healthier new year lies ahead.
The problem is that after a little while, you may start feeling a slump, it's not that your not trying, or failing to progress, but your body is starting to fight back. It wants the sugar and carbs back, it wants to know that in the event of famine it has enough fat stored to survive and it can feel very difficult to stay on track.
This morning I had that very slump, it wasn't a surprise, I've been back on the healthy eating bandwagon for a week and knowing my eating habits well, I knew it was coming. So I took out my diary and looked at where I was a week ago, what did I weigh? How did I feel then compared to how I feel now? Is there anything coming up in the diary to help motivate me to stick on my trail shoes and get out for a run? Bingo.
Somehow in my pre-Christmas stress induced state I signed myself up for a half-marathon, in February. As in, next month.
I'm not going to be fast, I'm not going to break any PB's, but a slow 13.1 miles is still 13.1 and it's a great motivator for me to lace up my running shoes and head out for a slow training run.
You will have days like this, make sure you have plan in place to keep you on track, be accountable to someone (partner, training buddy, Personal Trainer etc) so they can give you a nudge in the right direction.
Remember to map your progress; weight, body measurements, photos... log a combination of these so that when weight starts to plateau you can see your progress in inches or in photo's).
You've got this. I'm right here with you.
Begin.
